What we stand for!
The South African healthcare bodies are isolated from each-other, and rightfully so due to security and value of data, and POPI compliance. When the various stakeholders (including the patient) need to collaborate, the defragmentation in the industry causes redundant and inefficient operations. Such inefficiencies include the communication and sharing of operational data between hospitals, surgeons, medical aids, pathology, gap cover, etc. for HAPI (Healthcare Application Programming Interface) is a secure and POPI compliant communication highway that connects the operational data and communication that synergises the multiple healthcare bodies in South Africa.

In a HAPI world.
Our HAPI goal is to create a communication highway where the patient uploads their medical data once, and the medical-aids, hospitals, doctors and pharmacy are all in-sync. To create a healthcare industry where the operational data is communicated instantly and seamlessly across the medical bodies involved – including a direct chat communication platform between the stakeholders.
HAPI is a medical communication exchange based in Johannesburg, South Africa. The business is led by some of the country’s leading healthcare and technology experts. HAPI aims to optimise the South African healthcare industry by simplifying communication between healthcare providers, ensuring the safety of patient data.

Who are we?
What do we do?

HAPI’s goal is to connect the entire South African medical community through a simple, secure, decentralised and POPIA compliant digital chat platform. This platform will enable the efficient and effective flow of information between medical stakeholders, thereby reducing industry costs and improving patient clinical outcomes.
This chat platform is a neutral many to many, provider agnostic live communication platform that will improve the efficient and effective flow of information in the medical community.
HAPI will enable all healthcare stakeholders in South Africa to simply communicate and share information with one another on a secure, decentralised network. This includes hospitals, pharmacies, day clinics, laboratories, doctors & medical aids.

International Adoption of Healthcare Communication Platforms
HAPI is leveraging off the rapid international move towards healthcare communication exchanges. There has been a large international movement towards the implementation of sophisticated communication exchanges in the last 3 years.
Due to the digitization of the medical industry, the increase in information flow and the need for increased connectivity between healthcare providers, healthcare communication networks are now expected to grow 21% year on year for the period 2022-2025.
The National Health Information Exchange (NIIE) and Interoperability Landscape report estimated that 80% of healthcare providers that implemented stakeholder Electronic Communication Networks (ECW) dramatically improved internal processing efficiency, while over 89% reported a similar dramatic improvement of clinical outcomes.
